Some experiences in life are extremely difficult to put into words…Florence

Florence, maybe the best city of Italy, the birthplace of Renaissance where you can admire greatest pieces strolling trought little lovely streets or stand on a bridge over the Arno river enjoying the nice view. A city with a long tradition as far as fashion, it boasts famous designers such as Ferragamo, Gucci and many others.

After a while in this captivating city, you might want to return time and again.

This was the city of Dante Alighieri, Bocaccio and Michelangelo, of Raffaello, Leonardo da Vinci e Donatello and the Medici family. An extraordinary fusion of artistic creativity, political sophistication and scientific progress, this was the cradle of the Renaissance and its fruits are still extant in Florence, in superb museums and galleries such as  Santa Croce, the Bargello, The Uffizi and the Accademia, the home of Michelangelo’s David. In beautiful structures such as the Brunelleschi’s towering Duomo, the Ponte Vecchio and Palazzo Pitti. During your time in this historical city try experience a visit to The Vasari Corridor, served to link up the Pitti Palace, where the Grand Duke resided, with The Uffizi where he worked. Became one of the world’s most impressive collections of self-portrait, is well worth! Florence is a city so dense in art, history and culture that even a short visit can wear the best of you.

Don’t fell required to visit every last museum and frescoed chapel untilyou drop exahustion and the art becomes just one big blur in your memory. There is of course much more…

Spend a day at the Boboli Gardens or climb the hill to the church of San Miniato al Monte continuing for Piazzale Michelangelo and delight an enchanting view of Florence. Take a time to enjoy a cappuccino in Piazza della Signoria. If you want a nice view while you’re drinking an espresso, an iced coffe or a cappuccino, I suggest you the roof terrace at La Rinascente , with a stunning view across the rooftops of the city and down into Piazza Repubblica. A lovely place to relax when footsore and weary! Go on shopping spree for Ferragamo shoes or Gucci handbag on Via de’ Tornabuoni, or looking for a leather jacket at the street market around the San Lorenzo church, a great place to stock up on belts, purses and wallets as gifts. Don’t forget to take a stroll on The Ponte Vecchio, with its Jewelry shops, one of the most famous bridges in the world, that joins the centre of the city with the district of Oltrano on the south bank of the river Arno.

Take a couple hours for a lunch at traditional Trattoria or buy a bottle of wine and stuff some bread, fruit and chees into your day pack, catch the tranvia till Parco delle Cascine for a relaxing picnic. Even better skip a day in town and get away from the crowds by hopping a city bus up to Fiesole on its tall hill for its cool street. quiet antiquity, and great panorama over Florence.

Handsome, historic, full of fashion boutiques, quirky shops and quality craft, a living city with restaurants, bar and a vibrant night life, even close to vine-covered hill of Chianti. It’s difficult to know where to start !  You can’t miss it!
